We worked on the branding of the new product "Interior Hanger" by "jcocomo," a lacquerware brand that Ckd Creative Studio was involved in rebranding. Ckd provided advice from the prototype stage and devised how to build the brand for "Interior Hanger."
The "Interior Hanger" was finally commercialized after years of trial and error by the owner, primarily with an eye toward overseas expansion. Each hanger is handcrafted with a focus on aesthetic appeal, ensuring a beautiful interior even when not wearing clothes. The wood base was designed and manufactured by Wataru Sakai, a woodworker living in Itoshima City, Fukuoka. Using carefully selected cypress from Itoshima and Kyushu, the hanger's delicate curves and lines are carefully and evenly finished. The lacquer is then applied to the finished surface by Toshio Chikamatsu, owner of Iwaya Urushi Studio in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture. He takes his time with the primer coat before applying the lacquer, then applies the lacquer brush by brush, applying each layer with precision and precision. To achieve a refined finish, the artist repeatedly applies and dries the lacquer, carefully checking the changes in color and luster and the thickness of the lacquer, resulting in a moist, deep texture. Because lacquer changes color as soon as it comes into contact with air, the ability to accurately visualize the finished product upon drying is crucial. The beautiful finish truly requires skilled craftsmanship.
Ckd Creative Studio decided to carefully show the background of this "Interior Hanger." They covered the production process and thoroughly explained each step. By doing so, they intended to highlight the high quality of the "Interior Hanger" and the dedication to craftsmanship, as well as convey the beauty of the traditional lacquering technique. In addition, the product visuals were shot in close-up of each individual part of the "Interior Hanger." This is because the simpler the design, the more beauty lies in the details.
The packaging for the product is designed to look like a single hanger stored in a presentation box, similar to the shoes and hats of fashion brands. The presentation box is wrapped in a band of each color to match the jet black, vermilion, and Yame colors, and the jcocomo logo is embossed on it. A tissue paper with the production story written on it is included inside the box.
For this project, we worked on creating a brand, story, and visuals with an eye on the market, as well as designing the website, flyers, and packaging as promotional tools related to the brand.
